Cleary uses mnemonics, rhymes, songs, and other tricks to teach geography facts. But he misses the mark by oversimplifying topics and suggesting impractical techniques. (Memorizing the anagram "I spar"--even with the visual of a boxer sporting a beret--seems just as hard as remembering "Paris.") The cluttered design of the colorful, cartoon-filled pages is distracting. Reading list, websites. Glos., ind.
