Women aren't allowed to become tailors, so Maia disguises herself as a man while she competes. Guest excels at providing vibrant, distinct voices for a wide cast of characters. Maia's voice, in particular, is carefully crafted: soft and delicate when she is her female self, tough and tenacious when she pretends to be a man. Guest captivates listeners by shading the vivid descriptions of clothing with tones of astonishment and awe. She also wraps listeners in the wonder of discovering magic and falling in love.
